As we reported yesterday, the drug company Pfizer has just filed for regulatory approval to sell a new drug in Australia. Called Alvydria, the new Viagra-style drug will be sold in both tablet and liquid formulations and is aimed at the treatment of male erectile dysfunction. While there are other medications available to treat ED, the new drug is expected to be marketed as having more comfortable side effects.
The application was made under the trade name of Yariv and was initially filed in March 2019. The application also noted that clinical trials for the drug had started soon after and that a similar drug was already approved for medical use in the US and other countries.
New Alternative For Men With ED
The fact that a new prescription drug has been approved for the treatment of erectile dysfunction is, in itself, fairly remarkable. However, it’s not entirely surprising when you consider that ED has become a widely prevalent issue in men and that there is now a range of treatment options available to suit different scenarios.
The introduction of new medications and alternatives to existing medications helps to expand the scope of treatment and, as such, has led to a rise in the number of men seeking help for ED as well as other sexual problems.
A Growing Number Of Men Seeking ED Help
According to the medical research organization EMMARE, there are currently 14.7 million American men aged 18-64 that are either undiagnosed or inadequately treated for ED. Of those, 7.9 million men are actually diagnosed with the condition but are either unaware of or refuse treatment for the condition. The disease still has an enormous impact on the lives of men and their sexual performance.
ED is a common condition and the fact that so many men are either undiagnosed or inadequately treated for the disease is a great testament to how much it plagues the male population.
The Rise Of The Millennial Male
One of the most significant shifts in the way that we will see medicine practiced in the future is the rise of the millennial males. According to the market research organization CMI U.S.A., 76% of American men between the ages of 18-34 use some form of male enhancement supplement, with 31% using them regularly. Additionally, 28% of American men between the ages of 18-34 have used some form of ED medication, with 20% using them regularly.
These statistics highlight a massive shift in the way that American men are approaching health and wellness, with more and more men seeking to improve their sexual performance rather than focusing solely on the avoidance of illness.
Why Are American Men Embracing ED Treatment?
The reasons why American men are embracing ED treatment are varied but can be largely attributed to the changing social and cultural landscapes of contemporary America. One of the most prominent factors is the increased presence of women in the workplace. For centuries, women have been responsible for child care and domestic duties, which in turn has restricted their access to the outside world. However, in today’s America, there are countless women who are CEOs of major companies and have achieved fame and fortune while overcoming barriers of gender.
These women have changed the way that we see ourselves as capable and powerful individuals who can achieve amazing feats, no matter what gender we were born into. The presence of these inspirational women has encouraged men to embrace life experiences that were once reserved for the opposite sex.
Another driving factor behind the sudden emergence of ED in America is the increased focus on sexual health and wellness among the youth. The rise of the millennial generation has led to a renewed interest in sexual matters and more openness about one’s sexuality. The increased visibility of celebrities and athletes who have come out of the closet has also helped to normalize the discussion of homosexuality and other sexually-related topics.
What does this mean for men with ED?
The increased attention that men are paying to their health and wellness, as evidenced by the growing number of men seeking treatment for ED, is great news for those men who need help. The disease can be caused by a variety of factors, with the most common ones including aging, poor diet, and mental or physical stress. However, regardless of the cause, ED can be treated effectively. If you’re reading this and are seeking treatment for ED, no matter what your age, then there are options available to you.
If you’ve tried to treat ED with traditional methods such as diet and exercise and haven’t seen much improvement, then you might want to consider additional forms of therapy. Fortunately, ED is a treatable condition and there are many different options available to you.
