Most people know actor James Van Der Beek as Steve Jobs’ nerf-herder, J.P. Beemer on Home Improvement or the dad in Zooey Deschanel’s 2011 movie, New Girl. But did you know that Vancity Van Der Beek is also the name of one of Canada’s largest financial services companies? He’s been in quite a few TV commercials over the years and recently he’s been playing the role of a pharmaceutical rep in some high-profile Viagra television commercials. In this article, we’ll discuss some interesting information about J.P. and his acting career. So sit back, relax and get ready to learn.
A Brief History Of J.P. And The Van Der Beek Financial Services Company
If there’s one thing we’ve learned from TV and film over the years, it’s that not all actors are created equal. Some are just better at playing certain characters than others. Take Jim Van Der Beek, for example. He’s been playing a lot of roles in TV commercials and recently, he’s been playing the pharmaceutical rep in some Viagra TV ads. Let’s take a closer look at his acting career and where it took him. In 2007, Jim and his brothers founded the Van Der Beek financial services company. The company initially focused on offering financial products and services to Canadian businesses and then, in 2012, they expanded their offering to include U.S. businesses as well. Today, Van Der Beek Financial Services is one of Canada’s largest financial services companies, operating in multiple locations across North America. Not bad for a guy who grew up in Canada loving movies and playing football (he played for the University of Buffalo in Buffalo, New York and for the Buffalo Bills in the NFL).
Now that you know a little bit about J.P., let’s discuss his acting career in more detail.
Jim Van Der Beek’s Early Career
As we mentioned above, Jim Van Der Beek is one of Canada’s most successful and well-known businessmen. He’s also one of the most successful and well-known Canadian television and film actors of all time. He started acting in the early ’70s and quickly became known for his comedic talent. He played roles in a variety of movies and shows, including Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, All in the Family, The Odd Couple, Silver Spoons and most notably, Laverne & Shirley from 1976 to 1983. He also starred in his own self-titled sitcom for seven seasons. For many years, Jim Van Der Beek was among the top-earning Canadian television actors. But it wasn’t always easy. In 1999, he underwent quadruple bypass surgery. He revealed in an interview that the surgery was a total success, but that it took him nearly a year to recover from and he still experiences shortness of breath occasionally.
The Rise Of Viagra
Let’s now turn our attention to Viagra and the ways in which it changed Jim Van Der Beek’s life. In 2008, Pfizer Inc. (which makes Viagra) began a new advertising campaign aimed at encouraging men to discuss their sex lives with their doctors. They wanted to find a way to counteract the ‘stigma’ that surrounds the discussion of PE (possible erectile dysfunction) and encouraged men to speak openly about their struggles with ED. The campaign featured two unusual commercials that used humor as a way to appeal to viewers. In one of the commercials, a well-known actor named Bob Belchetz portrays a man who can’t remember the last time he had an erection. After trying several different anti-ED drugs, he eventually develops an allergy to them and ends up in the emergency room. There he meets a strange-looking doctor who takes out his appendix in the process of performing an operation to remove the allergy. Another actor named Bruce Gray plays a man who starts feeling a strange effect from a popular anti-social behavior drug marketed toward teenagers. In these two commercials Viagra presents itself as a ‘miracle drug’ that can help men with ED get their ‘biceps back’. The commercials are funny because they address an uncomfortable topic in an honest and humorous way, which makes them more relatable to audiences.
The Fallout From The Surgery (and Other Health Issues)
In 2014, Jim Van Der Beek had a medical scare when he was hospitalized for a short time with pneumonia. Fortunately, he recovered quickly and there were no long-term health repercussions. In the years that followed, he continued to be hospitalized for a few days at a time with various health problems, including diverticulitis and diverticulosis, which he had as a result of his diet and lack of exercise. In early 2018, Jim Van Der Beek’s health problems resurfaced when he was hospitalized for a few days with an abnormal heart rhythm. Again, he recovered quickly and there were no long-term health repercussions from the incident.
As you can see, Jim Van Der Beek has experienced a number of health problems in his life, which have been partially attributed to his smoking and drinking. He’s been arrested for DUI numerous times and in 2014, he was even charged with domestic violence and assault. All of these things contribute to the stigma that surrounds the actor. Despite all this, Jim Van Der Beek continues to work and he even found the time to produce and direct a TV pilot called Bites in 2020. Hopefully, this will be the actor’s final brush with the law. After 62 years of living, it’s time for Jim Van Der Beek to finally relax and enjoy the fruits of his labor.
