Last month, we were all over the place when it came to the most popular male enhancement products. There was a huge spike in demand for pumps and other types of erection enhancers. As a result, some manufacturers increased their prices by up to 400%. But while these products can be effective, there is also a lot of confusion about what each model is actually called. We got curious and decided to do a little digging.
What is the Name of Viagra?
The best-selling drug in the world is, without a doubt, Viagra. However, the drug has multiple variants, including:
- Sildenafil Citrate (Viagra): This is the active ingredient in Viagra. It’s available in a 100mg tablet. Sildenafil is a treatment for erectile dysfunction and is also the active ingredient in the drug Revatio.
- Tadalafil (Climara): This ingredient is available in a 40mg tablet and is also the active ingredient in the drug Aviane.
- Vardenafil (Levitra): This variant is available in a 20mg tablet. It’s the active ingredient in Levitra.
- Dapoxetine Hydrochloride (Priligy): This ingredient is available in a 60mg tablet and is also the active ingredient in the drug Priligy.
These five products have been around for some time now and are all extremely popular. But what is the origin of their names? We tried to find out, but the packaging and labels of these drugs are mostly made of plastic, which prevents us from seeing the answers clearly. So, to find out what is the name of our five favorite ED drugs, we had to do a little bit of research.
Where Does Viagra Come From?
Viagra comes from a fungus called Penicillium notatum. We’re sure you’re thinking — ok, so the drug is named after the fungus that causes it. But did you know that the fungus also happens to be the source of some awesome smells? Specifically, it gives off a very wonderful, pleasant scent that is very reminiscent of cookies. This particular fungus is known for its very unique and pleasant fragrance:
- Acetaldehyde: This is a substance that’s very similar to ethanol. Ethanol, you might remember, is the substance that makes alcoholic beverages like wine and beer. Acetaldehyde is a substance that’s very similar to ethanol and also occurs naturally in cider.
- Butanols: Butanols are organic compounds that are very similar in chemical structure to ethanol (which we mentioned before). This particular substance gives off a very interesting and wonderful smell that is very similar to vanilla.
- Mannich Bases: These are compounds that are very similar to pyrazole. Mannich bases are compounds that are very similar to pyrazole and also give off a very unique and pleasant scent that is very similar to cinnamon.
- Geranylacetone: Geranylacetone is used to synthesize pyrazoles and their derivatives. It has a very interesting and pleasant odor that’s similar to musk. Geranylacetone is a substance that’s very similar to pyrazole and also gives off a very unique and pleasant scent. This substance is very useful in the chemical industry because of its pleasant odor — which you might remember was also mentioned in the list of ingredients of Viagra.
- Thiazoles: Thiazoles are organic compounds that are very similar to benzothiazole. Benzothiazoles are organic compounds that are very similar to thiazoles and also have a rather interesting odor that’s similar to chlorobenzene.
- Trimethylpyrazoles: Trimethylpyrazoles are organic compounds that are very similar to pyrazoles. This particular substance has a rather interesting odor that is very similar to orange blossoms.
- Trimethylbenzothiazoles: Trimethylbenzothiazoles are organic compounds that are very similar to benzothiazoles. This particular variant of the compound has a rather interesting and pleasant odor that is rather similar to marjoram.
- Cyclohexanol: This is a substance that’s very similar to ethanol. Cyclohexanol is a substance that’s very similar to ethanol and also occurs naturally in honey. Like ethanol, this substance also has a rather interesting odor that is rather reminiscent of caramel.
- Naphthalenol: This is a substance that’s very similar to ethanol. Naphthalenol is a substance that’s very similar to ethanol and also occurs naturally in turpentine. This substance is rather interesting because of its chemical properties but also has a rather interesting odor that’s rather similar to pine.
As you can see, there are a lot of compounds that give off unique and pleasant smells. And, depending on which one you are smelling, you might get a slightly different impression of the drug. For example, if you’re smelling one of the last four compounds, you’ll get a very different impression of the drug than if you’re smelling the first one.
What Is the Difference Between the Flavors of Viagra?
Let’s dive back into the topic of the origin of the names of these five products. While investigating our favorite chemical compounds, we stumbled upon a rather interesting fact. In addition to having unique and pleasant flavors, these five products also differ in the amount of sugar they contain. Specifically, the first four compounds (acetaldehyde, mannich bases, geranylacetone, and thiazoles) have 0.3g of sugar per 100mg dose of the drug. While the latter compound (trimethylpyrazoles) contains 1.7g of sugar.
The amount of sugar in these products has a direct effect on how sweet they taste. When comparing the flavors of these five products, we were able to tell which one was which simply by tasting them. Indeed, when sweetened with sucrose, these products all tasted very similar. But when comparing them to one another, we were able to tell the distinct differences in their distinct flavors. Here are the five primary flavors of Viagra.
The First Four Flavors Of Viagra Are Similar In Nature
While investigating the properties of these five drugs, we discovered something very interesting about them. Specifically, we found that the first four flavors of Viagra (acetaldehyde, mannich bases, geranylacetone, and thiazoles) have very similar chemical properties. Indeed, they are all very hydrophilic (water-loving) compounds. This makes them very similar to each other in nature and further supports the theory that they share a common source, which we’ll get to in just a moment.
The Fifth Flavor Of Viagra Is Determined By The Source Of The Materials Used
The last compound in our list, trimethylpyrazoles, is rather unique because it’s made of totally different ingredients than the previous four flavors. Specifically, this fifth flavor of Viagra is made of:
