The human body is a marvel. Although we live in a highly technological world, the human body still manages to amaze us with its amazing ability to heal and adapt to its environment. Many people have asked me “how does your body feel?” since I’ve been experiencing quite a bit of pain in both of my legs. I’ve been told by doctors that it is most probably due to bone spurs that are causing nerve damage. The good thing is that my body is fighting back and trying to heal itself. It’s an example of natural healing that we all need to remember and be thankful for.
Bone Spurs: What Are They and Why Are They Causing My Pain?
Before we get into the nitty-gritty of my leg pain, it’s important to understand what exactly bone spurs are and how they form. Basically, bone spurs are small bony growths that form where tendons and ligaments are attached to bone. They’re most commonly found on the heel or behind the knee. The pain they cause is typically dull and aching, similar to arthritis. It can be quite uncomfortable and sometimes even debilitating, especially if they’re near the spinal cord or a nerve ending. In some cases, people with bone spurs have faced paralysis because of the nerve damage that the spurs have caused.
Since I’ve been having a lot of pain in my legs, my doctors have been running tests to rule out any serious health issues. They’ve assured me that it is most probably due to bone spurs, although they can’t give me any definite answer until the results of the tests come back. In the meantime, I’m trying to remain positive and understand that this is something that my body is trying to heal naturally. As I write this article, I’m reminded how lucky I am to have an exceptionally understanding and caring doctor’s office.
Treatments For My Pain (So Far)
Since my pain started, I’ve tried a variety of treatments. I’ve been taking anti-inflammatory medications and muscle relaxants as well as having laser therapy and acupuncture treatments. So far, none of these treatments have really helped that much. The best thing I’ve found to be effective at reducing my pain is a pillow designed for people with neck pain. I place it under my back to elevate my feet, which in turn reduces the tension on my spine. Although I would still like to try other treatments, my doctors assure me that these so-called “miracle pillows” can do wonders for people with neck pain due to spinal cord injuries or degenerative diseases such as arthritis.
The Bottom Line
In the end, there’s really no clear-cut answer as to why I’m experiencing this particular type of pain. It’s likely that I’ll need to go through a variety of treatments to find the ones that help the most. For now, I’m trying to remain positive and remember that this is something that my body is trying to heal. I also need to make sure that I take care of my mental health, as stress can be a major contributing factor to my pain. I think that in most cases, bone spurs cause leg pain because the body is not used to moving around and being active. When you’re not active, your body starts to malfunction and adapt by tightening up, which in turn causes more pain. It’s a vicious cycle that we need to stop before it’s too late.
