The story was first published in the New York Post in February 2019 and has since been picked up by numerous other news sites. We rated it #4 on our Top 5 list of viral news stories about celebs and their medications in early March.
The Alleged Viagra Story
The Post says that Chechik’s husband, Mark, bought her a one-of-a-kind diamond necklace for Valentine’s Day. But he didn’t plan to propose that night. He wanted to ask her advice about something first. He allegedly took the necklace off and asked Adriana if she’d help him out. He proposed in the middle of one of her books — she was reading War and Peace at the time. She said yes, and they married in May 2018. A few months later, in February 2019, the Post reported that Adriana was struggling with her marriage. In her books, she often talks about how difficult it is to be married to a man twenty years her junior. She said that after he got the diamond and they were driving home from the airport, he began feeling unwell and asked if she had any medication she could give him. She said she didn’t, but suggested he try Viagra. According to the Post, he took the pill and immediately felt better. They had previously been trying to have children but were unable to do so. After taking the pill, Mark began experiencing erection problems that lasted for over a month. Adriana said that this was something new for her husband and that she had never seen him act like this before. It was then that she said she remembered the pill she had taken after her grandmother’s funeral in October 2018. When Mark told her he’d been taking Viagra, she said she felt “betrayed” and stopped speaking to him for a couple of days. (Mark later apologized for “taking the Lord’s aspirin.”) Then Adriana started complaining about stomach pains and was hospitalized for a short time. She said her medical team couldn’t find a reason for her symptoms, but gave her the all-clear after one week.
More Allegations
The Post also reported that Adriana had two other alleged affairs, once with a married man in Paris and another with a married man in London. The couple was also trying to have children but were unable to do so. After the London affair, Adriana said she had to take a break from her husband and began seeing a therapist. She also said that she still struggles with depression and anxiety. She wrote a book called Why Doesn’t He Love Me? And How I Learned to Accept Myself and move on. In November 2018, Adriana was featured on The Bachelorette with Jake Pavelka. She was the second person voted off the show. Shortly after the show wrapped, Pavelka filed for divorce. In March 2019, Adriana was featured on the next season of The Bachelor. She was selected as the Bachelorette this year, but was eliminated during the ceremony, which was later followed by a tearful and passionate speech from Andi Dorfman, who became the new Bachelorette.
What Is Viagra?
Viagra is the brand name for sildenafil citrate, which is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction. It was approved for use in the United States in April 1998. Sales in 2018 were nearly 14 billion prescriptions and the pharmaceutical company that manufactures it says it’s been largely responsible for the rise of “middle-ageing” — people living beyond their reproductive years — in developed countries. But it’s not just men living with ED who can benefit from Viagra. Women are now also able to take the drug and experience improvement in their sex lives as well. (1)
There are various side effects associated with taking Viagra including low blood pressure, upset stomach and headache. If you experience any of these symptoms, you should stop taking the drug and speak to your doctor. (2)
Where Can I Buy Viagra?
You can purchase Viagra online from various sources including India, where pharmaceutical companies are allowed to manufacture and sell it without a prescription.
Viagra is also available from Canadian pharmacies without a prescription, but you must enter a valid prescription at the time of purchase. Some American Express® Cardmembers can also get a 90-day supply of Viagra without a prescription.
Are There Any Other Popular Celebs With ED Stories?
It’s highly unlikely that other popular celebs have ED stories similar to Adriana’s. The Post only reported on Adriana’s story because it was so juicy and also made for great copy. While there are numerous celebrities who have publicly spoken about their battles with ED, most keep these stories to themselves. It’s not easy being open about one’s struggles with an embarrassing or highly personal condition. But it’s worth it, in our opinion. These celebrities are still thriving, still loved and still helping others by speaking out about their experiences.
